Krimmler Waterfalls

With a fall height of 350 meters, they are Austria’s highest waterfalls and even rank as the fifth highest in the world. This natural monument is just one of the attractions in Krimml. A holiday destination that promises with its immense bodies of water a refreshing dib on a hot summer day.
A four-kilometer long, well built trail leads you to multiple viewing platforms close to this natural water wonder. Just a 10-minute walk from the parking lot brings you to the first grand waterfall and within an hour you can reach even the highest waterfall.

Großglockner Hochalpenstraße

One of the most beloved holiday destinations in the heart of the Alps is also the highest mountain in Austria. The famous Großglockner with its striking peak measures 3.798 meters and at its foot is the Pasterze Glacier.  The Großglockner Hochalpenstrasse (street) will lead you into the center of Hohe Tauern national parks. Nature and history lovers find themselves right at home on a trip here.

In the Visitor Center you can learn about the “Großglockner” on four stories of information. Furthermore the Panormawege, viewing platforms, themed playgrounds for children, Schaukäserei cheese production showcase and much more is all waiting for you. A special highlight for animal lovers: with a little luck you might spot some marmots, chamois, raptors and ibexes.

Lofty Mountains Reservoir Kaprun

A trip to the reservoir Moserboden and Wasserboden should definitely be planned in your holiday. Since 1952 Kaprun has produced clean, renewable energy from its water.

A fascinating trip in the lofty mountains is made easy with the bus and Europe’s biggest open funicular railway, where you can enjoy a terrific view of the Alpine area. At 2.040 meter up you can learn about the eco-energy generation and power station construction in a dam tour guided from specialists, or take a hike on the herb path.

Enjoy the mountain restaurant with its huge panorama windows and the first class view of the surrounding area from Hohen Tauern to the Stone See (Steinernen Meer).

Harvest Festival (Bauernherbst)

Culture and customs play a very important roll in the Salzburg land. Out of these came the tradition of the Harvest Festival, in which yearly numerous events are celebrated. Old handcrafting and traditional food is brought to life here. Come to the festival - good spirits guaranteed!

Participate in Almabtrieben (driving cattle from the mountain pasture), horse tours, Almmessen (mountain mass), or take a bike trip to any of over 70 participating Salzburg communities. Traditional Salzburg delicacies await you there. Whether its handmade cheese and farmer’s bread with an Austrian cream cheese spread and smoked ham or homemade schnapps, these Austrian specialties are worth the trip.
